On the computer that I need to work on, Photoshop is currently unavailable. Which is HUGE problem, for a lot of things.
Most of it I've found alternatives for, but I haven't been able to find a good way to fix the drawings that I scan. I've tried using photobucket and that site that replaced picnik, but I can't get it to work that well. Any advice? It would just be to crop or adjust contrast and lighting.

So, my two new challenges of the year(?). I've yet to really decide on the 300 Themes deadline, if there is to be one, but the SA will be done for November. Earlier, if I stay ahead of the game.

The Theme list is a challenge for myself in  order to keep making a variety of different types of art. Some of them will be sketches, some studies and some finished pieces, but most (if not all) will be different forms and medias of traditional art. I'm hoping that this will keep me on my toes about not just starting art, but actually finishing it. Also that I'll try a variety of media and styles in the process because variety and experience are things I find to be very important and traditional art remains my favourite art form. The list itself is around thanks to the talented :Cheeky-Little-Gamer: and can be found at the link at the bottom of this post. I would love to see your take on the different themes, if you're joining so please drop a note or comment!

As for the Screen Assignments, I'm finally getting organized with them! It's kind of sad, as I've been at my studio for over three years. So far I only have one up, but a couple more will be following soon. Also, each one finished gets me ten art points at school, so by the end of this year I should be all done with those and get a letter of recommendation from the Regional Arts Program at school. So far, so good. I've also managed to get a couple of colour ones, something the judges love when grading. Hopefully another gold'll be coming my way! That makes me three awards away from a platinum, if I get that. Once the home assignments are released I should be able to get a pretty good start on them, thanks to this ridiculously easy semester.  Hopefully I can just stay on top of all this stuff and stop my horrible procrastinating. Is it bad that I was going to put 'maybe' at the end of that sentence? Shows how great a delayer I really am.

So this theme kind of started on it's own. Heros: past, present and always.
It all started with Ronnie Radke, the voice of my pre-teen years. From there came Geoff Rickly and the pre-Devolucien Thursday. Soon followed Gerard Way and Harry Potter. All of these guys (and more) are what I geuss you could call idols. The 'past' would be Ronnie, but all the other people also played roles in my childhood and pre-teens. Gerard, MCR and Harry'll definately be around forever and Geoff Rickly isn't too far behind.
I've still got lots to go- preferebly some pictures of My Chem as a whole as well as some Bayside, once I find some good pictures.

Yes, my journal really has no relevance, but whenever I do end up writing one I like to put up whatever I'm up to. Usually this is for my own sake, as I have no readers (if I were another, I definately would not be reading this). I figure that in a while I'll probably stumble upon these and reread them, remembering my lack of commitment as I tried to document whatever art-related thing I was doing at the time.

Anyhow. The end is nearing for the VAB annual contest, and this time I'm not doing everything last minute; As a world-class procastinator, that is quite the accomplishment. After finshing a peice just now- in a surprisingly short time, may I add- I offically have two peices left, not including touchups and such, which really will take no time at all. Or so I hope. Oh, and tommorow I'll be scraping (or carving, whatever you call it) the stencil for my very first block print. I'll just be doing a remake of sorts of my peice 'The Effects of False Smiles on the Vast Minority", but I'm pretty excited to try it out.

As you've probably come to realize, I'm just kind of messing around with whatever I can find, trying to 'broaden my horizon' as some overly-cliched teacher would say. At the moment, watercolour is my favourite type of painting. We'll see how that goes, but for the last little bit I've been working on a painting of two characters that I have -once again- come to love. If I'm lucky, I'll find enough time to finish it withing the next week or so.

Well, I almost just wrote about how funny it was that 'finish' sounded kind of like 'finnish', so I think it would be a good idea to attempt to sleep a bit.
So long and goodnight.

summertime ~

3 min read
Is finally here. No more exams, worrying or six AM mornings. -giant sigh of releif-
Now my days can finally spent doing what I love: socializing, sleeping and artwork-ing. One of my goals (ewee, how I hate that word...) is to finally upload all of those bagillions of photos on my computer, in hopes that somebody on here will notice me, possibly. And because DA works as an awesome backup portfolio. BUT ANYWAYS. On the topic of photos, I've finally found myself a model (that isn't myself!), the lovely Kira. Not only does this make awesome cosplay and fashion-photography practise, she happens to be one of my best friends (and does everything that I tell her to, when I'm behind the lens- something most of my model attempts can't). In short, expect lots and lots of Kira now, as well as my usual inanimates and nature photos.

Another -of the millions- of things to do this summer is something that my mother is constantly pestering me to try- selling some of my work. She's suggested just about everything- clothing, logos, clay and pottery, cards, canvases and pretty much everything else that can be painted or drawn on. And finally, thanks to LOTS of inspiration from my lovely Alternative Press magazines, I might actually try it. At the moment it's just little things like my canvas painting bag, a couple flower pots and some adorable minicanvases I found at the (incredibly amazing and awesome in everyway) art store Currys. So far, not bad. I haven't actually tried to sell anything, but I figure I should get it known first- give gifts, wear the 'prototypes' as my mother likes to call them and just get people interested in general. I'm skeptical, but may as well try it, right?

The third on my (So Far) List of Art Stuff To Do (which I will now offcially-until-I-change-my-mind call SFLASD) is, of course, my Home Assignments from the studio. Although I only have one posted as of yet, I've done several under the categories of 'beauty products', 'an object with wheels', 'rhyming objects' and a couple other which have seemed to escaped me. Nonetheless, I have lots of ideas and references. The question is if I will ever get around to all of this.

Well, at the moment that's what's happening to the artsy side of me. Even though I'm quite sure nobody reads these, I figure that sometime down the road they'll be useful, so bear with me. And while you're at it, wish me some luck? There's lots and lots and lots (why is there always so much?) and lots to do this summer. Ah well, off to go into one of my intensely creative self titled 'artsy moods'.

xoxo
